2. Trust with the keys to my car: Uhura. Spock is runner up but loses because he is more likely to be accidentally influenced by Kirk if they're all bff.
3. Put thumbtacks on the chair thereof: Kirk, but I mean it with love really. I think he'd be down for a prank war.

5. Pack up and leave if they moved next door: Um. Any Admiral who is not Pike. Otherwise I'm chill. I doubt the admiralty would appreciate me as a neighbor. Too much loud music and dancing.

7. Pick as my partner in a buddy movie: Kirk, I want my buddy movie to have Shenanigans and great escapes.

I'm noodling around with a big scary (nichey nichey niche) One/Cait story where (obvs) PikeOne doesn't happen due to One deciding that huge expansive distance-relationships are setting herself up for a world of hurt, which. They kindof are. (I am not yet to the "So are you irredeemably straight or not?" conversation, but it promises to be a fun one.)

Oh my, that sounds intriguing. (Oh gooood, I imagine it will)

It is annoying complex because I have totally rped Pike in threesomes/moresomes as well as read a bunch and enjoyed them but when it gets down to it I seem to be getting narrower in my characterization as I write more/hang around fandom more. There are circumstances where I can see it working, but from a Canon! view I really just see Pike as well, a little straightlaced. He's a bit of a traditionalist and the thought wouldn't even really occur to him in most instances. I also don't think he's very able to really handle more than one partner's emotional needs longterm. Add to that, that my headcanon!Pike also have some jealousy/possession issues and it makes for Issues when trying to put him an poly situations.

Part of it is also taste and what I've read. I am having to avoid a couple Pike ships right now(that I used to read too! *weeps*) because they just bother me all of a sudden for one reason or another. There's a fic that broke me in particular but it was more catalyst of what was already occurring than to blame per se.

Part of the issue is that I rp Pike so much that he sort of Lives In My Head now and so Pike fic gets me way more emotionally involved than anything else and now it's also making me more critical. It's a convoluted issue wrapped up in convoluted ~feelings.

I have like an essay worth of thoughts on the topic but that is the highlights.

(I find myself nodding along a little, esp as re: TOS Pike, because his character is so influenced by the time in which he was written, but going/becoming rather looser in Reboot to reflect the time in which he was written. If that makes any sense at all? [Sometimes I think Pike needs two just to recognize his own emotional needs. One person to hold him down and the other one to make him talk about feelings. Also a very prurient case of wanting to have my cake and eat it too.])

(It make sense! And my headPike is very much influenced by TOS Pike so yes. RebootPike is def looser and for purely Reboot Pike(esp. since we have SO LITTLE FOR HIM) I can see poly things as more likely but right now my head is rather issue filled on it. And I see it as very dependent on the circumstances. I'm pretty much avoiding all Pike fic that isn't Pike/One(because I cannot resist it) or gen rn and trying to clear my head. I'm a bit Fandom burned out I think. [ I can see the argument for that but I can't quite get behind it. Teeheehee])

Mine's a weird mix but there is a healthy does of TOS Pike that very much affects it and sets me a part a bit I think. I tried to co-write a Pike/One/Colt fic back in feb that is also affecting. I think a little of it all was that I was cool with it until I tried to write the dynamic and Could Not Jusitify it. (Colt was probably the real problem though).

The first thought in my head hearing that is "Colt.". Because Pike/Colt in any iteration or combination with other characters (Especially Number One) is such a huge breech of authority that it breaks my brain a lot. (The dynamic itself, with Colt, is OOC by its nature. And stuff.)

Exactly. I have So Many Issues with Colt in general but for some reason agreed to attempt it(in part to help me get a handle on her and maybe warm up to her) and no. No I really can't. It breaks my brain. I can see Kirk/Rand but I CANNOT see Pike/Colt. It's just ooc for me.
