Dnd: When everyone wants you dead

theoreticalpixySo we have recently arrived in my character's home city (the capitol) which she fled after some shit going down a year ago. She is very aware she Is Not Safe there. She's been burned by the thieves guild and there's a Lord who might decide to try something if he finds out she's back, and she does the wrong thing (aka seeing his daughter again. Look, they're in love ok?). She's changed up her appearance from flashy to subtle, and is trying to avoid places where too many people might know her.
In today's session we were running around trying to find information on the city’s missing person problem, (magic? monster? people? who knows!) and in the midst of our investigations I went to visit my one (1!) still trustworthy thief friend, and found out the current state of the thieves guild (Bad) along with some more direct mystery details. My main rival thief is now higher up, and there is probably no one who will go to bat for me because the guild is consolidating power in a ‘loyalty or die’ type way. I have always been a mouthy bitch, and my rival probably wants me dead now that he can do it without blowback, so I must be hella careful. There’s now some sort of ritual that a certain level of thief has to go through, and my bff is about to be promoted into it, so I gotta find a way to get her out of the city with us.

It is very doable, as one of our party members is a Duchess (due to magic that messed up the world) and can give us some legitimacy as we sneak her out. First I gotta ask for the favor though.
